Rockwell Hardness Tester15 September 2020
The Rockwell hardness test (HR) is one of the most common indentation hardness tests, and you can perform the exercise using this tool. It meets or exceeds the requirements of the ISO and ASTM bodies, and the dial indicator can be adjusted to read 0.5 HR units. You can choose to use it to test the hardness of metals and certain types of plastics. Since the bottom shell is made of ABS plastic, it will offer protection against falling elements. With the Rockwell Hardness Tester, you will be able to test samples faster as the preparation process is minimal. Also, the machine will display the harness values immediately it penetrates the sample. For this reason, it is generally used to test bigger samples of metal or plastic. You will also appreciate the fact that it is made of steel. This construction ensures high levels of rigidity and also guarantees you many years of service.
How It Works
To determine the hardness of an item, you will first have to apply a minor load, after which you can place an extra load. Once you achieve the load size that is required, you should go back to the minor load in order to get the reference point. It is important to remember that the major load has to be held for a predetermined period so that the setup can have an elastic recovery.
